Critical Deadlines — Missing These Can Cost You
Missing any of these deadlines can result in loss of rights, loss of earnest money, or being locked into a contract you can't exit:

Earnest Money Deposit
What is Earnest Money?
Earnest Money is a deposit paid by the buyer to demonstrate commitment to purchasing the property. Typically 1%–3% of the purchase price — higher in competitive markets. The buyer pays it; a neutral third party (title or escrow company) holds it in a secure account.
- →If the transaction closes → applied toward the buyer's purchase
- →If the contract is properly terminated → returned to the buyer
- →If the buyer defaults → may be forfeited to the seller
